NCSD and the Foundation
The North Carolina School for the Deaf at Morganton (N.C.S.D.) was established in 1891 and serves as a day and residential school for the education of children who are deaf and hard of hearing. The school is located on a beautiful and historic 160-acre campus in Morganton, North Carolina.
The North Carolina School for the Deaf at Morganton Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We work cooperatively with, but are governed independently from, N.C.S.D. The Foundation Board consists of alumni, parents of students and graduates, educators, business and community leaders, interested private citizens, and a liaison from the school administration.
Our Vision and Belief
The Foundation Board members dare to imagine that there are no limits to what deaf and hard-of-hearing students can achieve. Our vision is to encourage and develop financial support to help close the gap between the shrinking availability of public dollars and the increasing need for more effective ways to enrich deaf education enabling our deaf students to realize their unlimited potential.
Enhancements take many forms. Some examples are educational equipment and other classroom needs, special academic projects, life-skills and educational field trips, athletic equipment, and dorm-living support. Individual student funding may be granted for college scholarships or other appropriate training needed for work placement.
Vision Statement
A community where all Deaf and hard-of-hearing people are equally empowered to lead happy and successful lives.
Mission Statement
